Today, I had a lot of peace thinking about this… WAY MAKER. God is our Way Maker. If you’ve heard that beautiful new song, you probably know what I’m talking about. That’s what got me into thinking about God as a Way Maker.
But, you know, there’s so much more to this subject if you really think about it. Moses and the Israelites were freed from great oppression by the Egyptians. They were slaves. Hard-working, sun-beating-down-on-you kind of slaves.
God delivers the Israelites. Miracle after miracle, He slowly loosens Pharaoh’s grip on them. Then they got to a point where things seemed grim. There before them stood a massive waterway, a perceived obstacle to the place where God was drawing them to go.
The first thing we tend to do when we see an obstacle in our way, especially with OCD, is to find a way out. In this case, the Israelites had nowhere to turn. Pharaoh’s army was following them close behind. What do we do? They might have thought.
That’s the magnificence of God. He does things we wouldn’t dream to be possible.
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. – Matthew 19:26
God often makes a way we never dreamed possible. Who would have thought that He would part the sea – the sea! – for the Israelites?! No one would have imagined that.
In our lives, we may face similar obstacles. How can God get me out of this one? How can He help me?
If we cry out to Him, we better believe He will answer us.
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. - Exodus 2:23
I don’t say these things because I have it all figured out. I’m working in these areas too. I want to call out to God about a particular situation in my own life. When I look at the Egyptians, I have hope that He hears me too and will make a way. He is a Way Maker unlike any other.
