Have you ever treated yourself to something in the past? Maybe you saw some chocolate at the store, and you decided to splurge. Perhaps you bought yourself a shirt that you really wanted. There are times that we buy ourselves something and don’t think twice.

I’m going to challenge you (and me) to give yourself another gift…the gift of imperfection.

For some reason, those of us with OCD or anxiety seem to think that we need to be perfect all the time. We set too high of goals for ourselves. We need to lighten the load a little. We need to bring the bar down to something we can actually achieve.

There’s nothing wrong with giving ourselves a little gift in this area: the gift of imperfection.

The thing is, we are not God. God is the perfect one. When we see that we fail, that we mess up, it gives us the opportunity to hold out our failings to Jesus. And then, Jesus can take our failures and sins and wrap it up in His grace.

If you find yourself slipping, it’s the perfect opportunity to turn to the Perfect one: Jesus.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” ~ Ephesians 1:7

Our pain now serves a purpose. Perhaps nothing draws us closer to the Father than when we fail.

Today, when everything seems to be going wrong, let your imperfections draw you closer to Jesus. Get wrapped up in the love of Jesus to the parts that are hurting you. It is such a humbling experience. Give yourself the gift of imperfection. It’s okay to not be perfect. Endure the pain. Bask in His love.
